Protect your inbox from spam with a temporary email

The reliable way to keep a new sender out of your real inbox is to never give them that address. A temporary email is a separate mailbox with a timer. When it is deleted, that sender has nowhere left to write.

What this does, and what it does not

A temporary address protects the inbox you care about by staying off the form. The newsletter, the trial, and the “partners” who appear afterward mail the temporary address. They do not learn the one you use for people.

It does not scan, filter, or clean the mailbox you already have. Spam that is already arriving there needs the tools of that provider: a filter, an unsubscribe that you trust, or a new address at that provider. SarabMail never sees that mailbox.

A practical way to use it

Open SarabMail and copy the address before you submit the form. Read the message you actually need, such as a download link or a code. If the sender was the whole point, you are done.

The free inbox then expires on its own. You can also discard it immediately from the inbox page, which deletes the address and the messages. Later campaigns to that address bounce, because the mailbox is gone. SarabMail does not send those bounces itself. Delivery simply fails once the address no longer exists.

Images, links, and the message itself

A lot of unwanted mail is not only the volume. It is the tracking. SarabMail strips scripts and blocks remote images until you choose to load them. Opening the message does not, by itself, request those images.

Links inside the message still go where the sender pointed them. A temporary inbox does not make a link trustworthy. If you do not need the body, you do not have to follow anything in it.

Where the trick fails

Some sites reject disposable domains before they send anything. You will see that on their form, not inside SarabMail. For an account you intend to keep, a rejection is a signal to use an address you control long term.

A temporary inbox is also a poor place for mail you might need as a record: an order confirmation, a warranty, a login you will use next month. Put those on an inbox that outlives the purchase. The free SarabMail inbox is short on purpose.

  • Use it for one-off signups, trials, and public forms.
  • Keep banking, health, work, and account recovery on a mailbox you control.
  • Discard the inbox when you are finished if you do not want to wait for the timer.
  • Do not expect SarabMail to send an unsubscribe, a complaint, or a reply. It only receives.

Short answers

Will a temporary email stop spam I already get?

No. It only keeps new senders away from your real address if you give them the temporary one instead. Existing spam has to be handled in the inbox that already receives it.

Does SarabMail unsubscribe for me?

No. SarabMail cannot send mail, so it cannot send an unsubscribe. Deleting the temporary inbox removes the address those messages were sent to.

Should I forward the message to myself?

Only if you are sure you want that sender to be one step from your real inbox. Forwarding is a Pro feature via a hook, and it is optional. For spam control, reading it on SarabMail and leaving it there is the whole point.
