Disposable email
A disposable email instead of the inbox you actually read
A disposable email is an address you can throw away. You give it to a site you do not trust with your personal mail, read what arrives, and the inbox is deleted on a timer.
What “disposable” changes
Your personal inbox collects every sender who ever got the address. A disposable address collects one conversation, then disappears with the messages and attachments.
On SarabMail the free inbox lasts 1 hour. You can discard it sooner from the main inbox page. Discarding deletes that address and its mail immediately, then offers a new one.
It is not an alias
An alias, or plus-addressing, still delivers into a mailbox you keep. You can search it later. A disposable inbox does not. When the timer ends, the mail is gone.
Use an alias when you may need the thread again. Use a disposable address when you want the signup to stay out of that mailbox entirely. SarabMail does not offer aliases.
Limits you should expect
SarabMail cannot send a confirmation back to the other site. If a flow needs a reply from you, it needs a mailbox that can send.
A site may block disposable domains, and a message can arrive after you have already closed the inbox. For receipts you must keep, use an address that lasts.
Sensible uses
Newsletters you did not ask to keep
Take the download or the coupon. The later campaigns have nowhere to go once the inbox is gone.
A vendor you will not buy from twice
Give the form a working address without adding that company to your personal mail.
A shared or public computer
The inbox is in this browser session. Closing the timer, or discarding the address, removes the messages from SarabMail.
Questions about disposable email
Does a disposable email hide me?
It keeps a signup off your personal inbox. It does not make you anonymous. The site you sign up for, and the network you are on, still see their usual logs. SarabMail also keeps a session cookie so this browser can reopen its inbox.
Will the mail stay if I refresh?
Yes, until the inbox expires or you discard it. The free lifetime is 1 hour. Refreshing the page does not reset that clock.
Can I use it for a password reset later?
Only while the inbox still exists. After it is deleted, the reset message has nowhere to land. Do not use a disposable address for an account you need to recover.
Is the HTML safe to open?
Scripts are stripped and the message is framed. Remote images stay off until you load them. Treat links inside the mail the way you would in any inbox.
